Seminar on The EU and the Eurasian Economic Union with distinguished Guest Speakers at UAS BFI Vienna

In November, the seminar titled “The EU and the Eurasian Economic Union: Competition, Conflict and International Business” took place at UAS BFI Vienna. Given the war in Ukraine, the seminar put a strong focus on the war itself, its root causes, the impact on enterprises in particular and on relations between the EU and the EEU in general.

This year, a number of well recognised international experts gave guest lectures. Dr. Tobias Spöri (University of Vienna) started the guest lecture series with a presentation on “Europe from the Dissolution of the Soviet Union to the War in Ukraine”. Dr. Rail Safiyev (Western Caspian University) shared his insights into the institutional and economic structure of the EEU and the union’s relations to the EU. Dr. Hannes Meissner (UAS BFI Vienna) presented research results from his EUCON field trip to Kiev in October 2021, dealing with political risks related to the current geopolitical conflict between the West and Russia and the situation in Ukraine. Likewise, Dr. Albert Hayrapetyan (ASUE) shared his EUCON research results in regard to Armenia as a hub between the EU and the EEU. Finally, Dr. Alina Nychyk gave a speech on EU-EEU relations in times of Russian-Ukrainian war.
