For the first time during the pandemic, a face-to-face meeting of EUCON project partners took place at the University of Passau on Friday, 1 April 2022.
In addition to general discussions on the project, the team started the recording of the EUCON podcast series, which is produced by Maximilian Becker, Julian Plottka and Florence Reiter (all University of Passau). Therefore, Florence Reiter first talked to David Morris (Corvinus University of Budapest) about the Chinese “Belt and Road Initiative” (BRI) with a special focus on Chinese-Russian relations regarding the Russian war against Ukraine.
Topic of discussion of the second recording was political risk analysis and political risk management – with special regard on Ukraine and how the war affects the field of political risk management in the post-Soviet space– for which Hannes Meißner (University of Applied Sciences BFI Vienna) was available to answer questions as an expert.
Finally, the third podcast interview focused on developments in Ukraine since 2014 and the role of the European Union and its security and defence policy with special focus of normative power as geostrategic challenge. For this, discussion partner Daniel Göler (University of Passau) followed up on his article (https://www.nomos-elibrary.de/10.5771/0044-3360-2015-3-289.pdf ) published in 2015 and gave current assessments of the political situation.
