Fifth episode of “EUCON – The Eurasian Podcast” online

In the fifth episode of the podcast series “EUCON – The Eurasian Podcast” Florence Ertel (formerly Reiter) talks to Anna Lazareva, member of the EUCON-Project team and researcher.

In this episode, we will talk about the significance of the economic side of the war in Ukraine, focusing on issues like the impacts on trade and inflation, shortages in supply chains, and an increase of fiscal deficit. Relating to this, Ukraine is not only dependent on military support, but also on capital flows in form of aid payments and loans from other states and the European Union in order to maintain the functioning of its state. This is especially impactful for the country’s economy when taking into consideration Ukraine’s already high indebtment prior to the outbreak of the war. Originally from Ukraine, Anna Lazareva is completing her master’s degree in Political Science at the University of Vienna and has participated in various research projects related to the revival and emplacement of DPs from Ukraine. She is a member of the EUCON-Project team located in Vienna, where she works on the EU-EAEU-relations in the light of ongoing geopolitical shifts.
