The Eastern Partnership is the European Union’s main instrument to establish close relations with the countries of its Eastern Neighbourhood. Since the EU granted Moldova and Ukraine a membership perspective in 2022, with Georgia trailing behind, the future of the Eastern dimension of the EU’s Neighbourhood Policy needs reconsideration. Is the framework still suitable to address such diverse countries, as Armenia and Belarus, which are members of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), as well as Georgia and Ukraine, which are closely linked with the Common Market? How will the EU enlargement policy and European Neighbourhood Policy work together in offering the candidate countries in the east of the EU a European perspective? The EU receives clear signals of interest in deepening relations with the EU from countries without a membership perspective. What has the Union to offer these countries or will the window of opportunity for enhancing the EU’s role in its Eastern Neighbourhood close? Interested public from the University of Passau, the Passau Region and from all over Europe are invited to discuss with representatives of the EU institutions, experts from academia and civil society the current institutional setup of the EU foreign policy towards its Eastern neighbours with special focus on how the EU Enlargement Policy and the European Neighbourhood Policy work together in a
new setup.
